Overview
At mapdap, we respect your right to control your personal data. You can request the deletion of your account and the personal information associated with it at any time. This page explains the different ways to do that.
Delete Your Account In-App
The easiest way to delete your account is directly from the mapdap app:
- Open the mapdap app and sign in to your account.
- Go to Settings by tapping your profile icon.
- Tap "Account" or "Account Settings".
- Scroll down and tap "Delete Account".
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
- Your account will be scheduled for deletion in line with the timeline described below.
Request Deletion via Email
If you are unable to access the app, you can request account deletion by emailing us at support@mapdap.com.
Please include the following information in your request so that we can verify it:
- The email address associated with your mapdap account.
- The phone number associated with your mapdap account (if known).
- Your mapdap username (if known).
- A brief statement that you are requesting deletion of your account and personal information.
We may ask you for additional information to verify your identity before we act on a deletion request.
What Data Gets Deleted
When you delete your account, we will take steps to remove personal information associated with you, including (in general terms):
- Your profile information (such as name, bio, photos, and date of birth).
- Your messages and chat history.
- Your location-related activity tied to your account.
- Your posts, comments, and reactions.
- Your social connections within the Service.
Certain information may be retained beyond account deletion where we are required or permitted to do so — for example, to comply with legal, tax, or regulatory obligations, to enforce our agreements, to prevent or investigate fraud or abuse, to support safety enforcement, to handle disputes or legal claims, or in the form of de-identified or aggregated data. We do not retain more than is reasonably necessary for these purposes.
Deletion Timeline
Once a deletion is confirmed, we will deactivate your profile so that it is no longer visible to other users, and we will then proceed to delete or de-identify personal information associated with your account in line with our internal processes and applicable law. The full deletion process may take some time to complete across our systems and any backups, and certain information may be retained as described above.
Requests Concerning Minors
Parents and legal guardians who believe that a child under 16 has created an account or provided personal information to mapdap may contact us to request deletion. We may ask for information necessary to verify the relationship and the request before we act on it.
